Monty is at our home in Harvard, MA. He is a gelding pony, a little less than 11 hands, bay, 11-year-old with stripe on face. We got him from the Davis Farm zoo where he was the product of a shetland mare and a mini stallion. He was nipping kids so they decided to wean and sell him at 5 months of age. He came here in a crate in back of a pick-up truck. His main purpose at the time was to be a companion for our other old pony. Other than nipping, he was pretty good about being handled and led with a halter and standing for the farrier. We had him gelded at 10-months-old.
The other pony died a year or so later and we have had two other horses that he was companion to, in the years that followed. As he got older, he would put up with me brushing him but would try to nip and be pushy, often trying to push me with his butt. He also tries to bite the lead rope when you tie him and wiggles and paws. He's got a major pony attitude and really needs someone who can be firm and consistent with him. He is utd with shots and Coggins but currently needs a hoof trim.
As I stated before, he is not to be trusted with children because of his biting and lack of respect for people and I would recommend that he only be handled by experienced horse people.

I have a horse I can no longer keep. I have done everything I can to find her a new home, but have been unsuccessful.
Currently she is healthy, but I am in need of finding a home for her as soon as possible. I would love to tell you more about her.
Please let me know if you can help.
We are located in Pembroke, MA. Lucy is a 17-year-old Standardbred mare. I rescued her from a shelter at 4-years-old, and she hasn't been ridden much since then.
HISTORY: 1994 - 1998: Show Horse 1998: I rescued from a shelter (gait imperfect) 1998 - 2004: Kept at horse ranch with 7 or 8 other horses & a goat 2004 - Present: Pembroke. She's kept in a large corral. Turn her out onto the grounds (1.3 ac) often.
Had a pony companion for a few years. She's been alone for about 2 years. Due to construction there is little pasture here so I keep her on hay & feed year round. 15hh. Fairly sound with those whom she is familiar. Somewhat sound around strangers. Good with neighborhood noises & large sounds. Far from bomb proof. Very obedient for handling & grooming. Has never bucked, but when attempting to ride her she would book forward for the barn. Well fed but not current on routine maintinence ie. vet care, farrier, teeth floating etc. Otherwise healthy. No tattoo. Sire line unknown.

Sumi (pictured above on the right) is a 2-year-old Thoroughbred gelding, probably 15.2h right now........will probably top out at 16h. Big bodied, good bone and proportionate feet.
He's chestnut with two white hind legs and a big white blaze. Turns out with anyone, not an Alpha, does not bite, strike, or kick. Good for the vet and blacksmith. Trailers well.
Sumi was born and raised on our family farm in South Deerfield, Mass. He is a great guy, and very pretty, but was born with a funny leg. It has a bow in the outside of his cannon bone (hind). When this boy was just three weeks old, we sent him to Rochester Equine to see if there was anything to be done. Dr. Myhre implanted a couple of screws on the outside of his growth plate to encourage growth/counterbending of that leg. To date (he's now almost 2) it has slowly started to straighten, but I don't think it'll ever look "normal". Soundness has never been an issue, and amazingly enough, this horse totally tracks up when he's trotting. We started early breaking (lounging, intro to tack, weight on his back) this past summer, and he was just wonderfully accepting of it all:-).
I have tried and tried to find this fellow a home, but people are really turned away by his funny leg. We breed for race and sport, and since this horse has no place in either of those worlds, I am forced to either move him along, or have him put to sleep. It seems like such a shame to euthanise a perfectly useable and friendly horse, simply because he was born with a blemish. I am feeling really quite desperate at this point, and hoping beyond hope someone can give him a home.
