Burnt Hill CTR to Feature New Format
Posted by

The Burnt Hill Competitive Trail Ride, a 30-mile competition in Burdett, New York, and its companion 15-mile Conditioning Ride have a new format this year. The rides, which are based out of the Newell Farm in Burdett, will take place September 25 in the Finger Lakes National Forest. This year the ride date has been set for a Saturday to make it easier for competitors who have a long drive to stay over Saturday evening, then visit with other competitors on Sunday before heading home.

For the past two years, the number of entries has been growing, according to ride manager Stasia Newell. "We’ve been accommodating more riders who have to drive several hours to reach us. We wanted to make it possible for competitors to get their riding in on Saturday and then relax a little Sunday and get home at a reasonable hour.” She emphasized that the scheduling change will not squeeze out the fun features for which the ride is known, the campfire, old time music, and chicken barbecue, but will make for the addition of a campfire breakfast on Sunday morning.

Andre Pater's Paintings to be Featured at WEG
Posted by

In conjunction with what is anticipated to be the biggest equestrian event ever held in the United States, internationally renowned artist Andre Pater has created four paintings, depicting some of the equestrian disciplines featured in the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games to benefit The Race For Education.

The series includes jumping, dressage, reining and driving. The paintings were unveiled at a private reception at Cross Gate Gallery in Lexington, Kentucky in November of 2009. A study of the jumping painting donated by the artist sold for $8000. A limited edition of five hundred signed, numbered prints, bearing a silver stamp of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, will be made from each painting and will be available as a gift with a $100 contribution to The Race For Education.
